Safety and Reliability
When ever it comes to the improving of quality using testing methods in different industries, the improvement methods are mainly focused on to the betterment of technical aspects like intrinsic capability of the testing methods. However, these ways of improving the testing methods only from the technical aspects are still lacking other aspects as explained from modular model such as the human factors and applications factors under the organizational context, due to several challenges.
When these factors have to be considered during the performance evaluation of testing methods, there lies a lot of uncertainities in properly accounting for different factors. Hence, one of the better ways is to reduce these factors by using advanced technologies under the context of NDE 4.0. However, in order to implement the advanced technologies as obtained from either industry 4.0 or NDE 4.0, it is equally important to understand the performance or capabilities or reliability of the existing systems. This helps in knowing better ways to implement the new technologies and also for easy comparison with the prior.

About Us
Dr. Daniel Kanzler is working in the area of reliability evaluation of non-destructive testing systems for over 15 years. Within his field of expertise he work from different angles, from industry, as scientist and with a goverment institute: He started his career at GE Sensing and Inspection Technologies in the field of ultrasonic testing, while completing his diploma and master thesis. Later on, he continued his work at the Federal Institute of Material Testing and Research, Berlin. He was part of the Radiology department, where he finished his PhD in 2016. In 2016 he founded the consulting company “Applied Validation of NDT” and supports international companies in the topic of “NDT/E Reliability” Different publications, his diploma as well as his master and PhD thesis considered different perspectives of testing systems in the field of ultrasonic testing, radiographic testing, visual testing and eddy current testing. One of his accomplished goals have been the probabilistic evaluation due to realistic defects with multiparametric influence analyses and the inclusion of economical KPIs. He holds the NDT Master degree “level 3” in ultrasonic, radiographic and eddy current testing (ISO 9712). In 2012, he started working as a lecturer of DGZfP (German Society of Non-destructive Testing), for different universities (e.g. at TU Munich and TH Aschaffenburg) as well as being a tutor for the European American and International Workshop on reliability of NDT/E. Since 2017, he is also leading the ICNDT specialist group on NDT Reliability. Currently he is part of the group, developing a new standard in the reliability and new approaches for the future of NDE (NDE4.0) in Germany and in Europe. In this project he started with a group of other experts, is working together with different industrial sectors to introduce reliability concepts for meaningful use of NDT. Since September he leads the standarisation committee NA 068-08-28 under DIN about the "Qualification of testing methods"
